What Is Public Transportation Service Integration?

Experiences across the world have shown that non-integrated public transportation systems neglect the needs of customers.  In particular, customers complain about the inconvenience resulting from the inadequacies of any one provider.  Issues of comfort and schedule times have also been highlighted.

Barbados is no exception to this, and the harmonization of the private and public transportation services is considered to be an effective means of reducing these inconveniences.

Transport service integration provides an opportunity for a collaborative effort between the private operators, that is, the privately owned PSVs, minibuses in this case, and the publicly-funded Transport Board.

Through this effort, the Transport Authority will oversee the integration of transportation services along specified routes.

The Transport Authority will oversee the smooth transition of this pilot project which will redound to the benefit of all.
